Rest assured, all of our outside plant fibre optic cabling is installed in underground conduits meters below the surface of the road, and often those conduits are encased in concrete for added protection. In no way would something as routine as the resurfacing of a road or sidewalk impact, or even come close to our cabling. We also use quite a few different underground conduit systems for diversity, many of which are owned by us, as are the cable chambers all of our splice enclosures sit in, which means it's only our hands touching our network.
It would take a very serious construction accident that is well beyond our control to damage our underground cabling, and even then the diversity we have built into our network will likely prevent any kind of outage.
